Colin made his first jump with the12/13 British Parachute Regiment in 1966.   He was an active jumper competing in Britain, France and Belgium.   He qualified as a BPA Instructor in 1969.

Aussie Powers encouraged Colin to emigrate to Australia and he arrived at Labertouche in 1971 and threw himself into the skydiving scene with a great deal of enthusiasm.

After the weather restricted British jumping, Colin perceived the five or six jumps every weekend environment in Australia to be a skydivers' paradise.

Within a short time of arriving in Melbourne, he was heavily involved in ab-initio instruction.   He became Chief Instructor of Labertouche Skydivers in 1975 before moving on to be CPI for the organisations mentioned below and again for Eagle Skydivers when the Labertouche operation moved to Pakenham.

Over the years Colin served as Chief Instructor of: 
Meredith Parachute Club,
Bendigo Para Centre,
Victorian Parachute Club, 
Melbourne Parachute Centre, 
Commando Skydivers and
National Training Centre.    

Some of these were short term appointments to fill in for an emergency situation where the Chief Instructor was out of action for some reason.   Commando Skydivers was one, where Colin took over temporarily when Billy Kenny suffered a stroke and it turned into a seven year stretch.

He was the Alternate Australian Delegate to the the FAI International Parachuting Committee from 1976 until 1981 and attended IPC Meetings in that capacity in 1976,1980 and 1981

Colin served the APF with distinction and was awarded the Australian Sport Medal, the APF Service Award, the Victorian Parachute Council Service Award and the VPC Long Service Award (25 years) for his service to sport parachuting.    Among the positions he held were APF Board Member, APF Management Committee, APF Director Instructors, Victorian Safety Officer and Chairman of the Victorian Instructor Panel.

In the last named position he served for many years, conducting regular Instructor Courses in all of the parachuting disciplines.    Many interstate clubs and operators sent there potential instructors to these courses because of their professional reputation.  

Commando Skydivers were so appreciative of Colin's work for them that the club arranged for him to receive APF Life Membership.

Colin was a member of the Organising Committee for the 2nd World Championships in Relative Work held in Gatton Queensland in 1977.

He was Meet Director of the Australian Parachute Championships at Labertouche 1975 and of the West Australian Relative Work Championships 1998.

These days, Colin has backed off from his sport parachuting commitments to pull his affairs together after suffering some reversals in his business projects.  He is working with a Tullamarine engineering firm but keeps up his connection with the sport socially.
